Our kendo weekend over here in Hong Kong starts with a Friday-night welcome keiko that took place in 2 sports gyms at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium (with a twist of post-colonialism in the name), which is where my usual dojo is.

Though one gym finishes 1/2 hour earlier, leaving the remaining one completely overcrowded...

It is definitely a global trend to keep on practising kendo kata 12 hours before one takes shinsa...

Feb 26, 2005. Saturday. Temperature 16°C. Super Foggy.

I do not work for the Tourist Association - just happen that the fastest route to the tournament venue for me is to take that Star Ferry (pictured) crossing to the HK Island Central District.

Hong Kong Park Indoor Stadium is located right behind that triangular skyscraper (which is designed by Architect I.M. Pei, also famous for the Pyramide du Louvre in Paris)

Okay... Enough of the unrelated tourist information... but this is my first time being here too.

There was shinsa before the actual tournament. On my arrival at 1pm, the first thing I saw were rows of shoes and some leftover BENTO...!
