International Kendo Enbu Taikai - A day of Japanese Martial Arts
and cultural arts to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the British Kendo
Association.
This event starts with a seminar on the day before. Shot on the left was
taken when I arrived at 11.30am (after a morning train from London at
6am...)
Sensei in attendance:-
M. Sumi 8thDan Hanshi; M. Chiba 8thDan Hanshi; I. Ueigaki
8thDan Kyoshi; T. Okamura 8thDan Kyoshi; J. Tashiro 8thDan Kyoshi
Shame that no Team Japan member was there from the last WKC.
I guess everyone was invited but have other stuff to do, huh?
02.
It is very difficult to concentrate doing bokuto-kihon and kendo kata
for 4 hours straight, when you weren't sleeping properly for the entire
week (I was moving).
At 4pm we put our armour on, preparing for a jikeiko session. Everybody
wake up when Chiba Sensei says, "I AM GOING TO TEACH EVERYONE HOW
TO DO JODAN"
No snaps taken as he had my full attention!
03.
This is the day. A Saturaday in Uni of Edinburgh's Centre for Sports and
Exercise.
Maybe a little bit too early to get ready. So I walk around and snap everything.
The squash courts in this area are spaces for "workshops" for
individual arts, just like stalls they can set up when the event is held
outdoor. (Proven to be a wise choice to have it indoor, as we heard some
thunderstorms outside when we watched the embu)

This is how you should handle antiques.
