This
annual event for the Iaido / Jodo people in the UK was held in Horsham,
South east of England - somewhere 45 mins drive from Brighton, where my
iaidojo is, and where I lived.
Because of the poor lighting in the gym, under my digital camera everyone's
kata look like the bullet-dodging agents in The Matrix...

The day kicks off with the Jodo event first. A morning warm-up for half of them.

There
are 6 divisions in this individual competition - mudan, and 1-5 dan.
Everyone does the same 3 sets of kata chosen by the sensei on that day.
You need to do it with a partner (a good one). But it's the one who is holding
the Jo going through the rounds, so they are not in a particular kata pair.
